Ghibli Museum, Mitaka, Japan

Our family were fortunate enough this September to take a holiday to Tokyo, Japan. One of my favourite memories would have to be the 'girls only' trip to the Ghibli Museum, in Mitaka. Even though we weren't allowed to use our cameras inside any buildings, the girls still enjoyed posing for photo's in the beautiful gardens. It was such a lovely break from the hustle and bustle of Harajuku and Shibuya.
We were greeted at the door by a huge Totoro, saw displays of the artists studios (i should have taken some sneaky photos with my phone), watched how anime films are made (very interesting), rode on the 'Cat Bus' (well Miranda did anyway) and we even got to watch an exclusive animated short film. It didn't matter that the film was in Japanese, we still enjoyed it.
Lunch at the Straw Hat Cafe was well worth the almost 1 hour wait. We ate straw hat shaped omelettes (cute) filled with fried rice, plus cake and sundaes for dessert. Yummo!
After lunch we made a quick stop at the souvenir shop, then jumped on the museum bus (check out the bus stop sign) back to the city :) Good times
